Why were they so sure of fnding WMDs? Was it because of...?

They were never sure, on the contrary they were pretty sure they wont find any, the decision to make WMD as the justification for the invasion was purely a PR thing. Where it all went wrong was the fact they did not have a post invasion plan and they were not counting on the level of resistance put up by the Iraqis.
