Harley Purists do you think the advent of the Evolution engine in March 1983 ruined the image of HD?

Do you think the Evolution engine started the dilution of the Image?? It seems to me the gritty riders of H-D are gone and replaced by aging baby-boomers that like to cosplay. It's almost like a boxer that overstayed his time in the ring. although I agree that today's H-D is light years better than H-D of old, but is it worth the prostitution of the brand?
