Is one of the "detainees" in Iraq of Arab descent?

I think his last name is 'Fattal'. I saw the reunion with them(the hikers) and their mothers tonight. If she and he are Arab American and Muslim, do most who don't care for "muslims", feel bad for them too? On a side note, Americans expect Arabs (or any foreigners) to follow our laws and receive punishment when they break our laws. However, that tune seems to change whenever it's the other way around when an American breaks the laws abroad. When an American is a detainee, most Americans are screaming: "why doesn't the President (in this case Obama) get them out of there?!" Like it's just that easy. And if all the Iraqis "muslims" are as American hating and as brutal as people say, why haven't they killed the American detainees? Not wishing any harm to them, just saying.
