What will happen when the DEP is over 1 year?

So, i visited my Marine recruiter today and he told me that the minimum one waits in the DEP now is 10 months. And 10 months ago it was 7 months.. so, like times are growing. So my question is if one can only be in the DEP for a year, what will happen once the Minimum is over a year!?!? please help?
