Is there an easy way to make your hair permanetly wavy?

I have really straight thin hair. I'm tired of it and Im not sure I have the $30 to go to xenon's for them to try to make my hair wavy. I have a picture to show them if they need one (Lisa's hair in the veronicas music video- hook me up) anyone have an easy way to do this so its permanent?!
